Mayana Chocolate LogoOur modern, connected era is an exciting time for small businesses, since the internet provides a multitude of opportunities for reaching customers. At, we love working with companies and seeing them grow and develop over time, making use of these opportunities to build their business. In this installment of our series of Label Stories blogs, we spoke to Daniel Herskovic of Mayana Chocolate, who started out with a small operation and grew into a successful company with customers across the United States and internationally.

Daniel and Tamara HerskovicDaniel created Mayana Chocolate with his wife Tamara after winning 7 awards in the 2008 Chicago Luxury Chocolate Salon, and their company has grown steadily since then. They now operate out of a factory in Spooner, Wisconsin. They first began working with in 2013, when they were looking to design a label for retail so that their products could be sold in Whole Foods stores.

“ was fantastic for retail design,” says Daniel. “When we were ready to create retail labels, we didn’t know anything about barcodes, but Lisa was able to design great labels for us, and the design was included in the cost of the labels. Having an in-house designer makes the process of creating labels quick and easy, and as we create new products, we’re always happy with the labels Lisa designs for them. We think she enjoys creating them, since chocolate is a fun product to design for!”

When Daniel first began working with in 2013, Mayana Chocolate only had three flavors of chocolate bars. Today, they have six permanent flavors, and they also do a large amount of work creating custom candy bars for stores around the United States. “Getting to know your industry and learning what works best is a great way to grow your business,” he says. “We’ve found that candy bars sell well throughout the year, but chocolate truffles sell better around gift-giving holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day.”

Mayana Chocolate BarsFor companies that are in the process of growing and considering moving to a new location, Daniel recommends moving your business to where you want to live. “We love the quiet, rural community of Spooner in northern Wisconsin, and we’re very happy to have our business here. The state of Wisconsin has been really good to us, and we can’t imagine a better place to live and work.”
