How Do I Pick What Size My Label Should Be?

Whatever it is you've created as a product, you’ve put lots of effort into it. Whether it's your own custom craft-brewed beer, small batch cosmetic lip balm, or organic salsa, your product is the result of your hard work. It shows in every bite, splash, and sigh of satisfaction from your customers. So, show it in your label material.

The Right Container Deserves the Right Mark

Bringing that satisfaction from your workspace to your customer isn’t easy! You’ve also had to pick exactly the right package to deliver it. Now that you’ve picked that perfect container, it’s time to put your mark on it as well, but where do you begin? You know you need a label for your product. You probably have a good idea of what sort of logo best represents your brand. But, quickly printing that logo and slapping it on your bottle, tube, pot, or jar just wouldn’t be a good representation of the hard work you’ve done so far.

Obviously, we know there are a ton of choices that go into picking the right professionally printed label material for your product. We’ve covered many of those choices before, but a great starting point for any manufacturer is size. Think about the dimensions of the label like buying the right size of clothes. If you tailor it, you’ll end up with a perfect fit.

Every Bottle, Cup, or Jar is Unique.

Each of our clients is unique, and so is every container. Each deserves particular attention when picking a label to go with it. When it comes to choosing the right size of the label, to begin with, it really is all about fit.

You want your label to be large enough on your container to be able to fit everything that needs to be on it. Your logos, ingredients, and more (remember, you don’t just have to do this in one label) have to fit well on the container. Like wearing hand-me-down clothes, the wrong size label can fit poorly and can leave the wrong impression quickly

You also want your label to be compelling enough to stand out on the shelf (or on the webpage). Too large and your label might be covering valuable real estate.

Did you pick a clear container to show off your product? Hiding it behind a label may not produce the impact you were looking for with your product. Too small and customers may not clearly see the name of your product.

Obviously, the shape is also a primary factor in figuring size. The dimensions of any label are crucial to making it fit on the container. Since most containers are unique – picking dimensions for a label that will fit is essential. We have many shapes to select from and starting with a basic shape can quickly get you going in the right direction.

Selecting SIZE by SHAPE: We have several shapes and sizes to fit all your label requirements. We have in stock:

  • Circles
  • Rectangles
  • Ovals
  • Hearts

Finally, label size is the factor most likely to affect the cost of any label printing job. With smaller labels, more labels can be printed at once. As the size of the labels increases, more material and more ink will be needed. We can work with you to determine the ideal size for your labels. We want them to not only fit your product’s specifications but also provide you with the best value for the size of your print job.

Labels can come in a variety of shapes, but this does not affect the price. A 2-inch round label will cost the same as a 2-inch square label if on the same material.
